New Year Honours 2026: Wolverhampton fundraiser speaks of 'humbling' royal honour and how being your best can help everyone
A Wolverhampton fundraiser and community safety advocate has described a royal honour as humbling and proof of what doing the right thing can bring people.
Manny Singh Kang has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to Rail Safety and to Charity, an honour he said he was still taking in more than a month after receiving the letter informing him of the honour.
It's a major accolade for the 52-year-old, who has completed physically and mentally demanding challenges such as walking from Wolverhampton to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, walking continuously around Molineux Stadium for 48 hours and riding a static bike non-stop for 24 hours, all to raise funds for Dementia UK.

He has received numerous awards, such as the ITV Central Regional Fundraiser of the Year award for Pride of Britain, and also works for Network Rail as a Community Safety Manager, working with the public to help them learn about safety and looking after themselves.
