Weight restriction is temporarily imposed on Wolverhampton road bridge in need of repairs
Council bosses have placed a temporary weight restriction on a Wolverhampton road bridge so that repairs can be carried out
The public notice states that Wolverhampton Council has made an "order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, under which the weight restriction on County Bridge, Windmill Lane, Wolverhampton, is reduced from 18 tonnes to 7.5 tonnes.
"The Order may operate for a maximum period of 18 months and it is anticipated that the order will operate from December 16 until June 15 2027.

"The Order is required as the structure no longer meets the design threshold for the current 18 tonne weight restriction. "Following further analysis and expert advice, it has been recommended to lower the weight restriction to 7.5 tonnes to reduce the risk of the bridge failing whilst further investigation works and repairs are undertaken."
