'We believe everyone has a right to enjoy a night out without fear or intimidation' - Police increase Wolverhampton city centre patrols
Police teams are continuing their regular patrols in Wolverhampton city centre this festive season as part of their commitment to protecting all communities and fighting violence against women and girls (VAWG).
Joining the teams out in Wolverhampton city centre on Friday night were a combination of dedicated neighbourhood officers, special constables, and specialist plain-clothes officers from West Midlands Police.
They are focussed on proactively preventing predatory behaviour associated with VAWG within public spaces alongside offering reassurance to people enjoying the festivities.

A police spokesperson said: "We believe everyone has a right to enjoy a night out without fear or intimidation, and working with partners our teams carry out regular night-time economy patrols during this seasonal time and throughout the year.
"Wolverhampton Police are also part of the nationwide crackdown on crime and anti-social behaviour, dubbed the Winter of Action, and are working with local authorities and businesses to protect all those visiting, working in and enjoying our towns and cities.
"Among the ongoing work is our licensing officers partnering with Wolverhampton Pub Watch to help ensure staff at venues are running the Ask for Angela scheme.
"This allows anyone feeling vulnerable, uncomfortable or at risk to approach a member of staff and ask for ‘Angela’. Staff should take them to a safe space, offer support, and help them leave safely, whether that’s by reuniting them with friends, calling a taxi or contacting police if needed.
