Christopher Reid, aged 40 and of no fixed abode, was described by Judge Deni Mathews as a “bully”, “abusive”, “stubborn” and “arrogant” as he was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

Mr Alex Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, had told the court that Reid’s harassment of his former partner began after they broke up in 2022.

He said on October 16 of that year, Reid went around to his victim’s home with a police baton and began “waving it through the letterbox of her property”.

The court was told on Friday (December 5) that his former partner was so scared she “felt the need to barricade her door” and call 999.
