New Wolverhampton brewery aims to fill the void left by Springfield and Banks's

A new brewery will be launched in Wolverhampton today, seeking to fill the void following this year's closure of Banks's Park Brewery.

Wolverhampton Council leader Councillor Stephen Simkins will be among those attending the official opening of Springbanks Brewery at the historic Lincoln Street building in Heath Town this afternoon, with bosses pledging to protect the city's brewing heritage following the closure of both Banks's and Springfield breweries.

A spokesman for the company said the site had significant heritage value and formed an important part of Wolverhampton’s industrial story.

"Springbanks has been established to continue and protect Wolverhampton’s long standing brewing tradition following the closure of both Springfield Brewery and Banks’s Brewery," he said.
