West Midlands Police arrested the man in Willenhall around three hours after the vehicle was stolen from an address in Staffordshire, before it was driven through Wolverhampton city centre.

Footage from resident Charlene Harris shows the earthmover being driven the wrong way on the A454 Willenhall Road and crashing into a Royal Mail lorry that had been positioned across the road to stop its progress.

The video shows the lorry being pushed aside and smashing through pedestrian safety barriers onto the other side of the dual carriageway, then the earthmover continuing the wrong way down the road towards the junction by the Cleveland Arms.
