Machete seized and teen arrested after police chase in Wolverhampton
Police seized a machete and arrested a teenage boy following an operation in Wolverhampton city centre.
West Midlands Police's Project Guardian patrol officers arrested a 17-year-old boy and seized a machete in Wolverhampton city centre on Monday (November 3).
As part of a Project Guardian police operation in the city centre, a number of people were spoken with and 10 stop-and-searches were carried out.
Two teenagers attempted to evade officers, but were detained following a chase.
Following a search, officers recovered a machete, and a 17-year-old boy was arrested.
The 17-year-old was charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and was due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (Tuesday).
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.
"There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime in under-25-year-olds, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols.
