Wolverhampton Council granted order to transform vandal-hit property which has been empty for nearly two decades
The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities & Local Government has approved Wolverhampton Council's application to compulsory purchase an eyesore Penn Fields house.
The property on Lime Street has been empty for almost 20 years with Wolverhampton Council failing to convince the owner to renovate the dilapidated property.
The terraced house has been a magnet for vandalism, anti-social behaviour and fly tipping. The reputed owners Nafri Estates, from Great Barr, Birmingham has rebuffed any pleas for positive action and have been forced to pay four times the standard council tax rate due to it being empty.
The compulsory purchase order gives Wolverhampton Council the power to renovate the property and create housing for local people.
The 156 square metre footprint of the property could see apartments being created or the terraced property returning to being a family home.
