Steve Bull joined the members of Compton Care’s Living Well Service at the weekly social session earlier this week at Compton Hall in Compton in Wolverhampton.

Steve, who is a Compton Care Ambassador, paid a surprise visit to the Living Well Centre to catch up with the group, who meet weekly to socialise and take part in a range of activities to support their wellbeing.

He chatted to members and found out more about how Compton Care’s Living Well Service supports them.

He said: “It was my pleasure to join the gents at Compton Care’s Living Well Centre for the afternoon.

“Opportunities like this are so important and they told me how being able to socialise and share with people going through similar experiences has made a huge difference to them.

“Alongside my wife, Kirsty, I am a proud Ambassador for Compton Care.

"The charity has always been close to my heart, and I am passionate about supporting and raising awareness of the vital work the charity does for individuals and families facing incredibly tough times.”

Compton Care’s Living Well Service supports people from day one of their palliative diagnosis, helping them to live actively and independently with their condition.

Last year, Compton Care helped more than 2,000 patients and carers through its Living Well Service with a range of support, from breathlessness clinics and physiotherapy to social activities and complementary therapies.

Clare Mills, Diversional Therapist at Compton Care, said: “We are so grateful to Steve for visiting Living Well and taking the time to get to know our members and more about the work that we do.

“One of the biggest ways we make a difference is by bringing people together who have shared experiences so they can talk and laugh with each other and know that they are not alone in what they are going through.

“It was heartwarming to see our regular attendees welcome Steve to the group, and they were obviously thrilled to have a local legend round the table!”

All the support offered by Living Well is fully funded by donations to Compton Care. To raise awareness of the Service, and vital funds to support its work, the charity has launched the Living Well at Compton Appeal.

Steve Bull said: “All of the support offered by the Living Well team, including social groups like the one I attended, is fully funded by Compton Care supporters.

"Any donation, big or small, to the Living Well at Compton Appeal will make a huge difference to people in our local community both today and in the future.”
