Wolverhampton palliative care charity proud to be part of national hospice campaign
A city charity offering help and support to people living with life-limiting conditions and their families has joined the second phase of a national hospice care campaign.
Compton Care in Wolverhampton said it was delighted to be part of the second phase of the national campaign, ‘This is Hospice Care’, a landmark initiative uniting more than 100 hospices across England, Scotland, and Wales.
Led by Hospice UK, the campaign seeks to deepen public understanding of hospice care and highlight the essential role hospices play in supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult moments.
At the heart of the campaign is a poignant television advert inspired by real stories from hospice communities.
The campaign aims to shift perceptions and encourage people to consider leaving a gift in their will to support their local hospice, ensuring that compassionate, specialist care remains available for future generations.
Fundraiser Joanne Till said: “Hospices like Compton Care are woven into the fabric of our communities.
"We are there during the most vulnerable times providing comfort, dignity, and expert care to people living with life-limiting conditions and supporting their loved ones through grief and uncertainty.
“This care is only possible because of the generosity of the public. We rely on charitable donations to continue our work, and gifts in wills play a vital role in sustaining our services.
"That’s why we’ve joined this national campaign, to shine a light on the profound impact hospice care has, and the legacy of care that supporters can leave behind.”
Compton Care is also calling on the local community to consider leaving a gift in their will, with the legacy gifts funding around 15 per cent of Compton’s work, helping to ensure that no one faces the end of life alone or unsupported.
Ms Till said: “We are proud to offer a free wills initiative, allowing anyone to make a will at no cost.
"We understand that some may choose to leave a gift to Compton Care through this service, and we are deeply grateful for every contribution no matter the size.
"Leaving a gift in your will is a powerful act of kindness. It’s a way to ensure that future generations receive the same compassionate care and support that so many families have already experienced.”
