Police discover extensive cannabis grow and over £400,000 of stolen machinery in major Wolverhampton bust

West Midlands Police have seized suspected stolen plant hire machinery totalling an estimated £400,000 at a compound in Watery Lane Industrial Estate in Wolverhampton.

Officers from Wolverhampton Priority Crime Team also discovered an extensive grow, believed to be cannabis, when they attended the premises last week.

A man in his 60s was arrested at the site during the operation on Tuesday, September 9 morning.

Officers were working with colleagues from the National Construction and Agricultural Theft Team based in Northumbria as part of an investigation into thefts from a number of firms across the country.

Among the machinery recovered were a JCB handler, two forklifts, two scissor lifts and a cherry-picker.

More than 250 plants were also seized and a sophisticated growing set-up spread across several units was dismantled.

The man arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and cultivating cannabis, has been released on police bail with strict conditions as enquiries continue.
