Vik Rana from Tettenhall worked with Tesco to hand out supplies of food, toiletries, sanitary products and more at the Good Shepherd foundation on Friday morning (July 18), with 170 people turning out to benefit.

Hot drinks from the Wolverhampton-based Sassy Coffee Company were also given out on what has become an annual event.

Vik, who handed out 1,000 bags last year with his brother, looks to celebrate his SIkh heritage by taking part in the tradition of 'Vand Chakna' which he says is all about helping those in need.

He said: "This is really to help the local community and give something back, and we thought where better to start than our own home town.

"Coming from a Sikh background, it aligns perfectly to follow our religion's ethos with one of the three pillars of Sikhism, requiring Vand Chakna, which translates to sharing with others, especially those in need.

"It was a little bit different this year where we handed out the parcels and goods at the Good Shepherd which was appreciated I think by all the visitors on Friday.

"I need to thank Tesco and the Sassy Coffee Company who have both helped so much in allowing me to run this service this year, Tesco are always generous in donating surplus goods which enable me to run this event."
