Wolverhampton Council launches new support service for landlords and their tenants. Here's how it will work
A new council-run website has been set up to help tenants and landlords resolve housing problems before they become serious.
The Call Us First website has been set up by Wolverhampton Council to provide a 'first port of call' for tenants and landlords in the private rental sector.
It replaces the previous Rent with Confidence scheme, to address present problems in the housing market, which the council says are shaped by both local and national factors.
The new website offers advice and information to landlords, agents and tenants, as well as updates about changes in the law, and a more efficient referral process when further assistance is needed.
The authority said it hoped to resolve problems through early intervention, and prevent homelessness by helping people stay in their homes.
Cabinet member for housing at Wolverhampton Council, Councillor Steve Evans, said: “The realigned service will establish a more meaningful and Wolverhampton-centred approach, to working with private sector landlords, tenants and owner occupiers to improve properties and management practices.
“The new website provides the platform for us to achieve this vision and is part of our ongoing work to provide early intervention to prevent people becoming homeless.”
