Blind date leads to a happy 60th anniversary
A blind date was the beginning of a relationship which has reached a significant milestone.
Pam Dalton was working at a dental surgery in Chapel Ash in Wolverhampton as an 18-year-old dental nurse when her colleague Pat set her up on a blind date with her brother Brian.
After this first meeting in January 1959, the couple began a relationship which has seen them celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
Pam spoke about how the date came about and her first impressions of then-21-year-old Brian.
The 79-year-old said: "Pat decided to fix us up and told me she'd get me a date with her brother and I was very nervous as I knew he was a bit older than me.
"When I first met him, he'd had his hair cut really short and he had on these strangely coloured shoes, which were actually very expensive."
The couple starting dating after the first meeting and got married at the Church of the Epiphany in Oxley on July 16, 1960, moving into a home in the Penn area of Wolverhampton.

Over the years, the couple have continued working, with Pam working as a dental nurse and Brian working as a builder around the city.
They also enjoyed going dancing, with a shared passion for ballroom dancing, gardening and taking trips to their caravan in Mid-Wales.
The couple were joined by their four children Margaret, Colin, Linda and Helen, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren for a day of celebration on their anniversary.
They enjoyed a glass of champagne and entertainment from Pam's niece Samantha Ward were joined in a street party by many members of their street Attwell Park.
Pam said she couldn't say what the secret was for a good marriage as she and Brian had been given very different advice on the day of the wedding.
She said: "My dad told us that the secret of a good marriage was to pull together, while Brian's dad said it was a lot of taking no notice.
"We've just enjoyed ourselves together and love life."
