Wolverhampton charity offers online palliative care support to care home staff
A charity in Wolverhampton has offered online palliative care support to care home staff amid the coronavirus crisis.
Compton Care has launched online learning resources to help staff tackle different conversations among other issues.
It has been drawn up by the hospice in order to help workers offer the best support possible for those with complex or incurable illnesses.
Lynda Harper, head of learning and development, said: "Since the outbreak of Covid-19, our commitment to support the health, safety and wellbeing of our community has been the beating heart of what we do.
"During these unprecedented times we are doing everything we can to positively respond to the evolving situation; ensuring those that need support and information have access to it.
"By putting together a range of easily accessible online resources we hope to equip care home staff with the knowledge, advice and tools they need to be able to best support those they are caring for with incurable illnesses.
"Our commitment to the provision of palliative and end of life care for all those who need it is at the heart of Compton’s learning and development team’s philosophy and we are doing all we possibly can to help our colleagues in the community and local trusts."
The resources focus on palliative and end of life care essentials, how-to clips and self-help techniques – with it available via Compton Care's website and the CCG Healthzone app.
Ms Harper added: "Compton Care possesses deep experience in palliative and end of life care and the current pandemic, with its profound effect on the physical and emotional wellbeing of the British population as it wrestles with fear of infection, loss and grief, presents an opportunity for us to provide much-needed additional support and materials directly to care homes and healthcare professionals."
