Highway maintenance carried out on Wolverhampton routes amid lockdown
Essential highway maintenance has been carried out on roads in Wolverhampton.
Contractors Kiely Bros, working on behalf of Wolverhampton Council, carried out the works on Finchfield Road, Broad Lane and Bradmore Road.
The council said the work was carried out during lockdown in a bid to make journeys "smoother" for when it is lifted, with preventive works to safeguard key routes continuing across the city.
Councillor Steve Evans, cabinet member for city environment, said: "I’m pleased to see improvement works have been underway during lockdown, making way for smoother journeys across Wolverhampton.
"It made perfect sense to carry out these works while the roads were quieter while minimising disruption to road users.
"It’s important our roads are maintained for health and safety reasons as well as showing our residents and visitors that we are taking pride in our city.
"I would like to thank our contractors and key workers who have continued to work during this time, to carry out these essential works to keep our residents and visitors safe on our roads."
They have been revamped through surface dressing and micro-asphalt works which will extend the life of the carriageway for eight or more years.
