The Great Western Beer Festival Parade 2019 attracted more than 1,000 people to the pub on Cornhill to sample over 50 beers from across the country.

The festival started in 2014 as a way of commemorating the First World War.

Festival organiser Jamie Atkins said the festival raised around £2,000 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

He said: “It’s always held over Remembrance weekend and is worth coming to because of the atmosphere.”

People attending the festival had the opportunity to enter a raffle for a signed South Africa 2019 Rugby World Cup shirt, a prize Jamie acquired due to his links with the winners.

He said: “I was going out to Japan to join the South Africa squad as an invitation from the team due to my friendship with the squad’s doctor Konrad von Hagen.

“While I was out there, I asked if they would be able to supply a signed shirt so that we can raise money for the Poppy appeal.”
