Now in its fifth year, the award recognises and celebrates the achievements of youngsters aged 14 to 19 who have made a significant contribution to the community in Wolverhampton.

Organisers fear that a number of nominations may have been lost after it emerged there was a fault with the form on the awards website.

Anyone who submitted a nomination before May 2 is asked to either resubmit it, or contact chairman of the organising committee Roger Timbrell on 07885 944030 or email roger.timbrell@yahoo.co.uk

Mr Timbrell said: “Unfortunately we found out that data submitted via the website before May 2 may not have been stored as a result of a fault with the system.

“Thankfully, that has been sorted out and the online submissions form is now working perfectly. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The award will be presented to a young person from the city who has been judged to have made an exceptional contribution to their local community. Nominees must live, work or study within the city boundaries.

It is organised by the city’s five rotary clubs in partnership with Wolverhampton Council, the Express & Star, Wolves, Waitrose and The Way Youth Zone. This year’s ambassador is Wolves star Conor Coady.

Nominations can be made at wolverhamptonyoungcitizen.org.uk and the closing date is May 31.
