Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, explained the property was being sold on behalf of Walsall Council.

He said: “This freehold detached building, until recently used as a Scout hut, is a single-storey, brick-built property with a timber roof.

“It stands back from the road behind a forecourt and inside is a sports or meeting hall, a kitchen and toilets, with a yard outside.

“The old building needs some work but could be put to alternative use or redeveloped, subject to planning consent.”

He said the property was almost certainly first built for commercial purposes in or around the Edwardian period, judging by its architecture, and it is thought Scouts moved into the building between 1922 and 1932, as the 4th Darlaston Scout Troop started at around this time.

Mr Bassi added: “We are expecting strong interest in this property, as we received multiple enquiries when it was originally listed in our September auction, before it was withdrawn due to a technicality.”

The Scout hut is among 180 lots appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction which starts at 8.30am on Thursday.
