Plans submitted to transform Brownhills bungalow into housing
Plans have been submitted to transform a Brownhills bungalow into housing.
It’s the fourth lot of plans put forward by applicant Morethan Property Ltd for 205 High Street.

In 2023, the company applied to demolish the former offices and replace it with a block of seven self-contained apartments.

But Walsall Council refused the plans due to the proximity of the building to a nearby home, and the position of the vehicle access which could lead to unacceptable pollution to nearby properties for noise, light and fumes.
The following year, Morethan applied to convert the property into an eight-bedroom House of Multiple Occupation (HMO).
Despite a petition against the plans launched by nearby residents, this application was approved by Walsall Council’s planning committee.
Morethan Property described the HMO proposal as a ‘fall-back position’, and earlier in 2025, it put forward new plans more similar to its first.
The proposal sought to demolish the bungalow and replace it with a 3.5 storey building with seven self-contained apartments, but this was refused.
Walsall Council’s planning department said the building would be too overbearing, that vehicles would create unacceptable pollution for nearby residents and the application fails to provide mitigation for the Cannock Chase Special Area of Conservation.
Now, in the latest application, Morethan hopes again to demolish the bungalow and create six one-bedroom apartments.
The size and look of the proposed building is similar to that of the approved HMO, rather than the previous, refused, apartment block plans.
Six parking bays have been provided, one for each flat, and residents will benefit from a large communal garden to the rear.
