'The town has a great history - let's be proud!' Residents react as Brownhills's Jigger statue island is covered by national flags
Hundreds of English and UK flags have been placed around the Jigger Island in Brownhills, sparking pride but also road safety concerns.
Scores of England flags have been erected on and around the Jigger Island in Brownhills, after a summer where huge numbers of flags were put up across the country.
It comes as thousands of Union and St George's flags appeared around the West Midlands amid a national debate over immigration and asylum hotels.

The island, locally known as the 'Jigger Island' or 'Tin Man Island', on the A452 , near Brownhills High Street, is home to the 'Jigger the Brownhills Miner' statue, a 40ft stainless steel sculpture to commemorate the mining history of the town.
Now, the island has been adorned in scores of St George's flags, with the show of 'nationalism' drawing mixed reactions from many social media users.
Katie Butler said on Facebook: "Brownhills has definitely put the flags out. Good for them. We could do with a few more around Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay."
