Some lanes remain closed on the M6 near Walsall this morning after a HGV and a car crashed near Walsall last night (March 23).

National Highways West Midlands reported that a crash involving a heavy good vehicle (HGV) and a car has caused severe delays.

The incident happened before 9pm on Monday, March 23 between junctions six (Birmingham) and junction seven (Walsall) on the M6 northbound.

National Highways West Midlands warned that lanes 3 & 4 (of 4) closed northbound and lanes 2, 3 & 4 (of 4) closed southbound on the motorway last night. 

However, this morning lanes 3 & 4 (of 4) northbound and lanes 3 & 4 (of 4) southbound remain closed (as of 5.30am).

As of 7.30am, National Highways said: "Lane 4 of (4) is now closed in both directions on the #M6 J7 (#Walsall) - J6 (#Birmingham) for ongoing emergency barrier repairs following a collision overnight.  Delays: #M6 northbound - 30 minutes #M6 southbound - 45 minutes."

West Midlands Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Fire Service have been approached for comment.
