Police conclude investigation into 'racially and religiously motivated' attack in Walsall
The investigation into a report of a racially-aggravated assault in Walsall has now concluded.
West Midlands Police had responded to reports that a 14-year-old boy had been assaulted by up to six people in Pleck Park at around 5pm on Friday, March 6.
Having carried out a 'thorough investigation' the force confirmed on Sunday, March 8 afternoon that the assault did not happen.
A statement from West Midlands Police said: "We responded on the information provided at the time of reporting. We have been in close contact with the local community and continue to provide support.
"We take all reports of hate crime very seriously, and if you are you are the victim of a hate crime we encourage you to continue to report to us.
"Hate Crime incidents can be reported through third party reporting centres such as True Vision, Stop Hate UK and Crimestoppers if you do not want to talk directly to the Police."
