New Pelsall bridge opens for festive period despite redevelopment being months away from completion
A new bridge being built near Walsall has partially opened to traffic.
This milestone for the York’s Bridge redevelopment project in Pelsall saw the existing road closure lifted on Tuesday evening (December 16) and will mean traffic will be free to move across the newly constructed bridge during the festive period.
The new bridge runs parallel to the historic York’s Bridge and is designed to improve safety, access and long-term resilience along this key route.

Full project completion is anticipated by March 2026, after the initial completion date for the project was impacted by ecological requirements and permit approvals.
