A popular Walsall spa hotel voted as one of the best in the country has been granted permission for a major extension.
A new reception area, new leisure complex, bistro and nine self-catering lodges are among the ambitious plans for the family-run Fairlawns Hotel in Aldridge.
The hotel, which was rated as one of the top 25 hotels in the country in 2022, has been granted permission to carry out the works, which will add an extra 17,000 sq ft of floorspace to the complex in Little Aston Road.
An enlarged pool area, extra charging points for electric cars and glass walkways linking the main building with the spa are also planned.
The redevelopment will be carried out in four stages, beginning with a new glass-fronted reception, offices above, as well as an extension to the pool at ground-floor level and a bedroom extension on the first floor. The first phase will also see the creation of new glass links between main hotel and spa, and a new landscaped courtyard.
