Staffordshire motorbike crash victim named as police constable

A serving police officer has died after the motorcycle in Staffordshire.

Police have now named 28-year-old victim as Pc Luke Van De Sande, who crashed in Cold Meece, near Stone, on Tuesday morning.

Pc Van De Sande, from north Staffordshire, was riding his orange KTM motorcycle towards Cold Meece when his bike left the road near to Pillstone Cottages on Swynnerton Road.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Response officer Pc Van De Sande was off duty at the time of the crash.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Specialist officers are supporting his family at this difficult time, who have asked for privacy whilst they come to terms with his tragic death.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the motorcycle in the area is asked to call 101."
