Man dies after car hits building in South Staffordshire - police launch appeal

A man in his 60s has died after a car hit a building in South Staffordshire last night. (Tuesday)

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 10pm to Blakeley Heath Drive, Wombourne, and sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Wombourne.

"We were called at 9.55pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 March) to Blakeley Heath Drive, following reports of a collision involving a black Renault and a parked silver Ford.

"Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"Despite the efforts of the emergency services, sadly, the driver of the Renault, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His next of kin is being supported by specialist officers and the coroner has been notified.
