Man smashed glass into victim's neck outside Cannock shop leaving his arm paralysed
A man who smashed a glass into another man's neck outside a Cannock shop leaving his arm paralysed has pleaded guilty in court.
Robert Grainger, of Wolverhampton, admitted wounding at Stafford Crown Court on Monday (June 16).
Grainger and his victim were seen on CCTV speaking to each other outside the One Stop on Longford Road on April 29.
The encounter led to a confrontation and Grainger, who was holding a glass, smashed it into the man's neck causing a deep laceration, Staffordshire Police said.
Grainger walked off after the incident leaving the victim, a man aged in his 30s, injured in the street.

The man managed to walk to a family member's house who called 999. He then went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital.
He has since been discharged from hospital but suffered life-changing injuries. Staffordshire Police stated that his left arm is now paralysed and he is still undergoing medical treatment at various hospitals.
Detectives linked Grainger to the case after trawling CCTV and arrested him on May 3. The 41-year-old was found to have an injury to the hand that he was holding the glass in.
After pleading guilty to wounding in court, Grainger, of Oaks Crescent, Wolverhampton, has been remanded ahead of his sentencing at Stafford Crown Court on August 21.
Chief Inspector Al Lyford, from the Cannock local policing team, said: “This was a particularly violent incident which caused a great deal of concern in the local community.
“Local officers worked quickly to investigate this incident and to build a case file against the offender, resulting in the conviction.
“Violence of any kind will never be tolerated and we will act robustly against those responsible.”
