A picture issued by the council shows the sheets of asbestos wrapped in fly sheeting, the group now offering a £250 reward for anyone who provides evidence that leads to a successful prosecution.

A Cannock Chase Council spokesperson said: "A large amount of asbestos sheeting has recently been fly-tipped at Varden Court, off Anson Street in Rugeley.

"As you can see from the picture, it appears the offender has taken reasonable steps to wrap the sheets, but unfortunately, it has ended up being fly-tipped.

"Asbestos is a dangerous substance that can cause severe respiratory illness and must be disposed of with care."
