'All lines blocked': Trains halted in Staffordshire following emergency services-led incident

An emergency services incident has forced trains to halt.

Avanti West Coast have warned of heavy travel disruption due to an emergency services incident between Lichfield Trent Valley and Stoke-on-Trent. 

The rail group warned of delays to regular travel at 7.48pm on Wednesday, warning that all lines have become blocked between the two stations.

Delays of up to 30 minutes are being reported between the stations, with disruption expected until 9.30pm tonight. 

An Avanti West Coast spokesperson said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Stoke-On-Trent and Lichfield Trent Valley, all lines are blocked. 

"Trains running between these services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, with disruption expected until 9.30pm.

"We're really sorry if this affects you and your journey today."

The nature of the incident is not yet known, however, emergency services have been approached for further information.
