A woman has been left with 'potentially serious injuries' following a crash on the M6.

West Midlands Ambulance Service have announced that a woman has been left with 'potentially serious injuries' following a crash between a car and a lorry on the M6.

The crash took place on the southbound stretch of the M6 between Junctions 13 (Dunston) and Junction 12 (Cannock) at around 1.14pm, and saw one lane of four to close.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said that one ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene, where on arrival, they found one patient, a woman, who had sustained 'potentially serious injuries'.

The woman received treatment before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital. 

An ambulance service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a lorry and a car on the southbound M6, between junctions 13 and 12, at 1.14pm. 

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. 

"We treated one patient, a woman, for potentially serious injuries, before she was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital."

National Highways West Midlands have said that lanes three and four are now closed on the M6 to complete the recovery of the vehicles, with all lanes being reopened on the northbound carriageway.

A highways spokesperson said: "On the M6 between Junction 13 and Junction 12, lanes three and four are now closed on the southbound carriageway to complete the recovery of the vehicles involved in an earlier collision. 

"All lanes have been reopened on the northbound carriageway."
