Residents of Rushwater Close, Wombourne, have called for help from Staffordshire County Council to fix a recurring flooding issue outside their homes.

The flooding, which is said to be caused by two 'overwhelmed' council-owned gullies, sees a resident access carpark covered with water, forcing homeowners to 'wade through water' each time it floods.

The residents have said that the issue is made worse when the water dissipates, leaving behind a slippery 'silt' and moss that leaves the carpark 'like an icerink'.

Dawn Garbett, aged 53, of the estate, said that not only has she had a number of close calls wading through the water and silt, but also that at least two delivery drivers had reported nearly slipping too.

She said: "I've been living here for five years now. It's the two drains that are at the top of the car park. They become blocked so easily, and it turns into a pond; you have to tiptoe and wade through the water.
