Reform leader Nigel Farage in Stafford to meet new council leaders
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage will be in Staffordshire today to meet the new leaders of the county council.
Mr Farage will be meeting with new leader of Staffordshire County Council, Councillor Ian Cooper, and his deputy Councillor Martin Murray, who took control of the authority in last month's local elections.
The party ended 16 years of Conservative control in the elections on May 1, taking 49 of the 62 seats on the council. However one of the new councillors, Wayne Titley, resigned within two weeks of winning the Eccleshall and Gnosall seat, and a by-election will now be hel
After meeting Councillors Cooper and Murray outside the county buildings in Martin Street, Mr Farage will attend a meeting in the cabinet room, before addressing the Reform UK group in the council chamber.
Staffordshire became the first council in Britain to fall under Reform UK's control, one of 10 it took in last month's election.
