Three-vehicle collision leaves M5 closed in West Bromwich
The northbound M5 in West Bromwich is closed after a three-vehicle collision.
West Midlands Roads posted on X at 3.40pm today (March 5) warning of "major disruption" and confirmed that emergency service crews are on the scene.
A collision between three vehicles on the northbound M5 has forced the closure of the motorway between Junctions 1 (at Oldbury) and 2 (West Bromwich).
Normal traffic conditions are not expected until after 6pm, and commuters are advised to find alternate routes where possible, and leave plenty of time to complete their journeys.
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed it sent two engines to the scene shortly before 3.30pm.
"Shortly before 3.30pm on Thursday, we responded to the M5 northbound motorway between West Bromwich and Ray Hall Interchange.
"Two fire engines from Smethwick and Haden Cross are in attendance, after three vehicles came into collision with each other on the motorway.
"West Midlands Police are in attendance, supporting with traffic management and West Midlands Ambulance Service are also at the scene. Lane closures are in place."
West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have also been approached for information.
