26 arrests and firearm recovered in crackdown on violence and organised crime in Tipton
Police have made 26 arrests during their latest crackdown on violent and organised crime in Tipton.
The launch of Operation Scarletfox aimed to increase information reported into the police, increase arrests and disrupt criminal networks.
Police say they have seen success with the operation while addressing residents concerns about the impact of violent, organised and gang-related crimes in the Tipton area.
Since the start of February, West Midlands Police say they have made 26 arrests for offences including possession of drugs with intent to supply, possession of a bladed article, possession of a firearm, and going equipped.
Multiple people have also been charged in connection with driving offences - with 12 vehicles seized, more than 90 stop-and-searches carried out and a firearm recovered.

Encouraging the public to continue reaching out with their concerns, Chief Inspector Michelle Allen of Sandwell Police said: “We are determined to make the streets of Tipton safer and the launch of Op Scarletfox is our response to tackle serious crime in the area.
“We are increasing patrols around hotspot areas for crime and bringing in addition resources to target offenders. However, we need your support.
“If you have any information about violence and organised crime in your area, we are urging you to tell us. We can then act on information and keep your community safe.
“Our message is clear to those who think they can get away with targeting our communities – we will track you down and we will put you behind bars.
“Gang activity, carrying weapons or getting involved in organised crime is not glamorous and can put lives at risk, including your own.”
Anyone with concerns is advised to contact police via 101 (or 999 in an emergency) or through the police website, quoting Op Scarletfox. Alternatively, give information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
