Death on tracks at Dudley Port railway station confirmed by police
A person has died following reports of an incident at a railway station.
Emergency services had been called to Dudley Port station in Tipton on Thursday morning (December 11) after reports of a casualty on the tracks at around 6.15am.
West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics worked to treat the person, but nothing could be done and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police also confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 6.15am today (December 11) near Dudley Port railway station.
"Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 6.15am to an incident on Station Drive, Tipton.
"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) attended the scene.
"Upon arrival, we found one patient.
"Sadly, it was clear that nothing could be done to save the patient and they were confirmed deceased at the scene.”
The line between Sandwell and Dudley had been closed for several hours due to the incident, reopening at 8.22am.
