Street will be blocked up to make room for proposed new Lidl supermarket in Tipton
The whole of a Tipton street will be blocked up to make way for a proposed new Lidl supermarket which is expected to provide up to 40 jobs.
The Department of Transport has given the green light for Meeting Street off Horseley Heath in Great Bridge in Tipton to be stopped up to enable the budget store development to take place.

Under the scheme the existing Lidl will be demolished and replaced with a bigger building after planners at Sandwell Council gave it the thumbs up in September. It will be built on a neighbouring eyesore empty plot that was once home to an MOT and van sales garage.

The public notice states: "The Secretary of State gives notice of an order made under Section 247 of the Act entitled 'The Stopping up of Highway (West Midlands) Number 24 Order 2025' authorising the stopping up of the whole of Meeting Street at Tipton in the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell.
"This is to enable development as permitted by Sandwell Council under reference DC/24/69873."
