Black Country man jailed after police seize zombie knife

A man has been jailed after police seized a zombie knife from him.

Officers from West Midland Police's Guardian Taskforce were patrolling around West Bromwich on Monday (23 February), where they spotted two men acting suspiciously, and following a short foot chase they were detained on Overend Street.

One of the men, Jesse Boakye, was seen throwing a zombie knife under a car.

He was arrested for possession of a knife and charged.

The 19-year-old, of Cape Hill, Smethwick, appeared before Wolverhampton magistrates on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty and was jailed for eight months.

Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.

There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
