'Major disruption' as 'police incident' blocks road in Smethwick
A road in Smethwick has become blocked following a 'police incident'.
West Midlands Roads has warned of 'major disruption' following a police incident on Bearwood Road, near the junction with Reginald Road, Smethwick.
The incident, which was first reported by the roads authority at 7.12pm, is said to have caused 'major disruption', with West Midlands Roads warning to plan ahead before travelling.
Police have cordoned off Bearwood Road near stores including a Premier shop.
A West Midlands Roads spokesperson said: "A4030 Bearwood Road, near Reginald Road junction.
"Police incident. Road blocked. Plan ahead. Allow extra time for your journey."
A number of bus services have also been diverted due to the incident.
National Express West Midlands said: "Incident on Bearwood Road/High Street, Bearwood.
"Services will be diverting in both directions via: 82 - Sandon Road, City Road, Portland Road, Shireland Road.
"87 - Windmill Lane, Soho Way and Crocketts Lane.
"Apologies for any disruption to your journey."
Emergency services have been approached for further information.
