Man, 31, arrested after police seize class A drugs from vehicle in Smethwick

A 31-year-old man has been arrested during the search of a 'suspicious' vehicle in Smethwick.

The arrest took place on Tuesday evening, and saw officers spot a suspicious vehicle on Blackthorn Road, Smethwick.

Upon searching the vehicle, a quantity of class A drugs and two batons were seized.

A 31-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon. 

He remains in police custody for questioning.

A force spokesperson said: "Yesterday evening, officers spotted a suspicious vehicle on Blackthorne Road. During searches, a quantity of class A drugs and two batons were recovered.

"A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody for questioning.

"We are arresting many more people in the last 12 months. We’ve made 60,111 arrests – an increase of 20,000 vs 2022.
