New parking restrictions coming into force in Rowley Regis's High Street

New parking restrictions are coming into force along Rowley Regis's High Street as part of road safety improvements for shoppers and visitors.

A Sandwell Council public notice states its intention: "Introduce or amend ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ upon Halesowen Street, High Street, Long Lane, Oldbury Road, Park Street West and Short Street. Introduce bus gate upon Market Place. Introduce or amend limited waiting parking bays upon Halesowen Street and Short Street.

"Introduce or amend ‘No Loading During Prescribed Hours’ upon High Street, Park Street West and Short Street. Introduce or amend ‘Loading Only During Prescribed Hours’ upon Long Lane and Park Street West. Introduce or amend parking bays for disabled badge holders upon Long Lane). Introduce ‘No Stopping During Prescribed Hours’ upon Birmingham Road, Halesowen Street, High Street, Long Lane, Market Place, Oldbury Road and Park Street West. 

"The order was made on February 18 and shall come into effect on February 25 for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of its operation."

The council has pumped more than £1.6 million into the Rowley Regis Connected project under the Rowley Regis Towns Fund Programme to create new pedestrian and cycle routes, resurface and widen footpaths, upgrade crossing facilities, introduce traffic calming, upgrade lighting, improve signage and road markings. 

The scheme saw improvements in Moor Lane and Wrights Lane, along with other improvements in Cradley Heath and Oldbury Ringway.
