The Household Recycling Centre, in Shidas Lane, Oldbury, will now be open daily – including at weekends and on Bank Holiday Monday.

Opening times have also been extended – with the tip now opening between 9.30am and 2.30pm every day.

Bulky waste collections will resume on Tuesday and residents can now book a collection by visiting Sandwell Council's website.

Demand is expected to be high for the collection service, and residents are being asked to be patient while kit is reinstated.

Covid-19 coverage:

Councillor Maria Crompton, deputy leader of Sandwell Council, said: "I have listened to our residents who have not been able to get to the tip during the week and I wanted to make sure all residents, including our key workers, can access our waste services.

“I am very pleased to announce that the council, working closely with our environmental services partner Serco, are now in a position to open the tip every day including this coming Bank Holiday Monday and that we will also resume bulky waste collections from Tuesday.

“Over the past few weeks our bin crews have been working tirelessly to get up-to-date with household and garden waste collections.

“They will continue to work hard to make sure bins are collected and they have been working extra days to make this happen. I want to thank residents for their patience and request that you continue to bear with us during these difficult times.”
