Police have stopped traffic at a crossing on a busy road in Great Barr, with ambulance personnel also in attendance.

Emergency vehicles including two marked police cars on blue lights, unmarked police cars and an ambulance on blue lights have been sent to a pedestrian crossing on the southbound Birmingham Road, Great Barr.

An eyewitness reported seeing officers making arrests.

The AA has reported traffic congestion in all directions, including the southbound road back up to the M6 Junction 7.
