Plans revealed for 850-home ‘neighbourhood’ on Walsall’s green belt
A new ‘neighbourhood’ of 850 homes could be coming to Walsall’s green belt.
Developers IM Land and Walton Homes hope to transform land off Queslett Road, between Doe Bank Lane and Aldridge Road.
The agricultural fields are located within the Great Barr Conservation Area, at least for the time being, as Walsall Council proposes to reduce the protected area by 80 per cent.
The land was given conservation protection status because the boundaries are likely to have dated back to the 18th century.
The proposed neighbourhood excludes the land near listed buildings at Doe Bank Farm.

The site is designated as green belt but was one of several plots put forward for housing by Walsall Council in the draft local plan, approved by cabinet members last month.
If the new ‘neighbhourhood’ is approved by planners, it will include a primary school, community hubs and a public open space.
IM Land and Walton Homes said the plans would form a ‘natural extension’ of Streetly, Pheasey, Kingstanding and Sutton Coldfield.
A three-week consultation on the project has been launched and residents are invited to have their say.
Glen Langham, planning director at IM Land, said: “Following previous engagement with Walsall Council and local stakeholders to promote this site, IM Land and Walton Homes now intends to submit a planning application for 850 homes.
“As we prepare our application, it’s important we continue to engage with the local community to explain how this neighbourhood will deliver much-needed housing, including affordable homes at range of sizes and tenures, a new primary school, community hubs and improvements, together with new publicly accessible open space and the delivery of new footpaths, cycleways and wider highway works.
“During the public consultation, we invite the local community to attend events and share their feedback.
“We want to ensure everyone is given the opportunity to shape the future of this neighbourhood which will create a vibrant, sustainable community that benefits both new and existing residents.”
The deadline to respond is November 25, 2025, and can be accessed online at www.queslettroadconsultation.co.uk.
There is also a drop-in consultation event planned at the Collingwood Community Centre on Wednesday, November 19, between 3pm and 7pm.
