Motorists have been stuck on the A34 flyover at Junction 7 of the M6 due to a lane closure, which has been ongoing for several weeks.

Drivers have been restricted to 20mph both ways on just one lane, when usually two are available.

The flyover is a busy route for motorists travelling from Walsall into Great Barr and Birmingham. Drivers coming the opposite direction use the route to get on to the M6 and M5.

Sandwell Council has said the issue is the lights on the flyover, which were found to be "inadequate".

A spokesman for Sandwell Council said: "The restriction is in place for the safety of road users due to the inadequate lighting, while a scheme is drawn up to replace the street lights that aren't working.

"We will lift the lane closure and 20mph speed limits as soon as we safely can, we apologise for the inconvenience."

It is not known when the land closure will be lifted.
