Councillor Amrita Dunn has been chosen to lead the four-strong opposition group on Sandwell Council, after Councillor Will Gill left the party last month to sit as an independent.

Councillor Dunn, who represents the Tividale ward, said she was honoured to lead a dedicated group of councillors.

She said her big concerns included the unchecked growth and poor regulation of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), which she said were having a serious impact on neighbourhoods across the borough.

"Sandwell deserves a council that listens, is transparent, and delivers for its residents," said Councillor Dunn.

"I will continue to hold this council to account for its failures on issues like HMOs, and to fight for better services, safer communities, and value for money for local taxpayers."
