Man arrested after burglars with crowbars 'stormed' into Stourbridge petrol station
A man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after armed burglars tried to raid a petrol station in Stourbridge early this morning.
Would-be burglars "stormed" into a petrol station in the early hours but quickly fled, police said.
West Midlands Police officers arrested a 51-year-old man in connection with the attempted burglary, which happened at around 1.10am today (Monday) on Hagley Road.
He remains in custody and enquiries are continuing.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’ve arrested a man following an armed burglary in Stourbridge this morning.
"We were alerted to burglars armed with crowbars storming into a petrol station in Hagley Road just after 1.10am.
"They fled but following quick-time enquiries we stopped a car suspected of being linked around an hour and a half later, near Dudley town centre.
"A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and is currently in custody for questioning.
"No-one was injured and our enquiries remain ongoing."
