The first day of the Stourbridge Bonded Warehouse 40th anniversary weekend celebration has been branded a success.

Thousands of visitors descended on the stretch of canal behind the Bonded Warehouse where stallholders sold everything from arts and crafts to artisan food.

There was also a rally of canal boats, classic vehicles and classic canal boat rides giving people a taste of yesteryear and life on the canals which helped power the industrial revolution.

A spokesman for the Bonded Warehouse was delighted with Saturday's festivities.

They said: "What an amazing first day of our special 40th Anniversary Open Weekend, thank you to everyone who visited and supported us and all of our traders, and all the amazing boats that are on display along the canal, we hope you all had a wonderful day.

"Sunday is going to be just as good with the added bonus of the Black Country Man Boat Trips running. 

"There will be four trips during the day at 10:30am,12:30pm, 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Rides are £10 per ticket and it will also include a cup of tea, coffee or squash. Cash only please."

 Stourbridge MP Cat Eccles also urged people to support the event by attending today (Sunday).

"There will be lots to see and do for all the family. A few steps up the towpath Riverside House is also open to the public to explore with an autumn trail, willow weaving, crafts, and hot drinks and cake! Wrap up warm and head on down!."
