Author Ned Williams tells Dudley history group about the 'garden suburbs'of the 20th century
Author Ned Williams will talk about the housing developments which changed the face of the 20th century in a talk on Thursday night.
Mr Williams, who has written more than 50 books on the history of the Black Country and surrounding areas, will be guest speaker for the first meeting of Sedgley Local History Society's 2025--26 programme.

His talk,entitled A Perfect Place to Live, looks at the stories behind some nearby 20th-century housing projects which he describes as 'garden suburbs'.
Born in East London in 1944,. Mr Williams moved to Dudley at the age of 18 to train to become a teacher. While he had initially only planned to stay for the duration of his course, he says he fell in love with the area and, immediately fascinated by its industrial heritage.
Since then he has become a prolific author and historian, well-known for his books about social history, railways, cinemas and theatres.
The talk will be held at St Andrew's Church in Bilston Street, Sedgley, starting at 7.30pm.
Anybody is free to attend, and admission is £2.
