New ales at Dudley's legendary Beacon Hotel sell out within hours of going on sale
A new beer brewed in tribute to the legendary landlord of a much loved Black Country ale house sold out within a day of going on sale.
Johny Beacon, brewed in memory of John Hughes, landlord of the Beacon Hotel in Sedgley, sold out within a day of going on sale as customers flocked to the famous pub to sample it.
It is one of three new beers launched to coincide with the opening of a new conservatory at the historic Victorian brew pub in Bilston Street.

Columbus, Sarah Hughes brewery's first American-style pale ale, also sold out within a couple of days of going on tap, added pub general manager Alex Marchant.
They were joined by a third called Samber, which was a blend of the existing Surprise and Amber ales.

But she said it was Beacon and Columbus which had attracted the most interest.
"They did very well because they are different from what we normally offer; we are best known for our sweeter beers, so they provided something different.
"Johny Beacon sold out within a day, Columbus maybe the day after."

People wanting to sample the new ales need not worry though, as a fresh supply had been installed in the cellar ready for the weekend.
Miss Marchant said the new conservatory had also been very well received.
"It had to be done because the old one was built in the 1980s, and it was in a very poor state," she said.
"There were one or two people who were a little concerned it would be out of keeping with the historic building, that it would be something modern, but they have done a great job and the customers love it.
"This is normally a quiet time of year, but we have been very busy."

Trying out the new conservatory were regulars Jay Lewis and wife Kerry.
"They have done a really good job with it," said Jay, 38, from Pensnett.
"The only thing they could have done would have been to make it bigger. I would have liked a bit more room."
"It's really good," added Kerry.
